SANJAY began his work in the jewelry industry by grading gemstones during his teenage years. As a child, he dreamt of becoming a medical doctor but concurrently developed a tremendous passion for colored gemstones.

The family amassed generations of knowledge handling various rough materials, techniques of cutting and polishing, and clienteles. He observed his father and elder brothers purchase magnificent specimens, increase their natural beauty through lapidary work, and sell them to traders, manufacturers, and retailers.

At seventeen, Sanjay officially joined the business and yearned to leverage the family's artistic skills and knowledge to a global audience. However, he devoted his apprenticeship years to gain knowledge of the various concentrations. Thereafter, he visited traders and retailers across India, and by twenty-four, he embarked on a global journey.

He traveled east to Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Singapore; he then traveled west to Paris, Rome, Milano, Amsterdam, Idar-Oberstein, and New York. Between 1984 to 1989, his trips narrowed to European and American cities, and on one of his trips in the late 1980s, he concluded that New York was the best place to fulfill his childhood dream.

In 1990, Sanjay and his family emigrated to the United States and established a trading office in midtown Manhattan. After thirty-one years, he has grown the family business into several divisions, exhibits the same degree of passion, and devotes his full attention to each procurement and sale.

However, he is most proud that his son, Sumeet, and daughter, Priyanka, who runs her business of designer and decorative jewelry — D'Deco Jewels — have similar passions and knowledge of gemstones and jewelry.

Sanjay holds expertise in important colored gemstones, vintage and contemporary signed jewelry from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff, et al.

SUMEET is the seventh generation in the family to run its gemstone and jewelry business. He studied gemology, jewelry design, jewelry manufacturing, and business management at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, California; completed Advanced Training of Colored Stones from the SSEF Laboratory in Basel, Switzerland; participated in several educational workshops at Van Cleef & Arpels' L'ecole School of Jewelry Arts in New York City.

He holds various distinctions and diplomas, such as Graduate Gemologist, Graduate Jeweler, Applied Jewelry Arts, and Accredited Jewelry Professional. After his graduation, he briefly worked for Tiffany & Co. in San Diego, California, and Pelham, New York. Although he gained adequate knowledge and experience, he explored web technologies and online commerce because of his love for technology and the requisite for new perspectives in the modern age. In 2010, he decided to join the family business and modernize the company for the 21st century.

Sumeet spearheaded the company’s online galleries, a mini-laboratory with microscopes and gemological instruments, and introduced standards to analyze gems and build trust to a global audience. For him, learning about jewels is the most fascinating part of his work. He explains the experience as "holding the beauty of nature, the ingenuity of man, and a capsule of time that looks millions of years into the past all at once." Unlike his father, who discovered his passion for gemstones at an early age, Sumeet fell in love with gems and jewelry after he held the most magnificent jewels at auction houses.

The experience lit a fire in his heart, and he sought to pursue a thorough understanding of rare, antique, and fine jewels. In 2013, he launched RAF with his father. Under RAF, his admiration grew for master jewelers and their craftsmanship. Sumeet believes that “beauty and perfection in gemstones and jewelry can only be brought by an artist’s dedication and love for his or her work.”

Sumeet holds a strong interest in learning about the history, scientific research, and trends of gemstones and jewelry. He actively looks to grow his network and seeks opportunities with his father to procure exceptional gems and unique jewelry articles.

He finds it critical to share his knowledge, experience, and skills with the general public, so they receive appropriate advice.
